A Bit of a Derailment!

 I apologize for the long delay in posting!  A lot has happened since I last posted! A bit of an explanation.  Carl, myself and two other ladies from the tour were planning to carry on to do a Greenland cruise departing from Reykjavik on July 2.  We were required to do a PCR test on June 28, which we did.  On June 29, my test came back as positive, Carl as inconclusive and the other two were negative. So, the evening of June 29 Carl and I isolated in our room. On the morning of the 30th, another traveller tested positive.  So, the three of us were transferred to the hotel in Reykjavik while the others carried on with the tour.  BTW, none of us had much for symptoms, just sore throats.  The rest of the group went on a glacier expedition right from our hotel.  They rode on a glacier buggy for 45 minutes, over pretty bumpy roads to reach the glacier.  They suited up in warm coats and hiked through a tunnel bore into the glacier.  It lo...

From North to West

 This morning we said goodbye to that picturesque little fishing village, it was hard to leave.   We were at the northern end of the fjord so we continued around the north end.  We climbed quite high and were driving through thick fog.  I’m thinking it may have been a good thing that we couldn’t see the drop off over the side of the road! Eventually we broke through the fog and found the sunshine!!!  Another beautiful, sunny day in Iceland! Every day our Tour Director reminds us of how lucky we have been with the weather! Our first stop was in another quaint little village called Hofsos.  This village has an emigration Centre ( we didn’t go in) and it also has the only flag factory in Iceland! We just stopped long enough to stretch our legs and take some pictures.
